Seoul National University Scholarships for International Students

Seoul National University was established in 1946. It is now known as the top university in Korea and among the most prestigious universities worldwide. At present, it has three campuses: Gwanak Main Campus, Yeongeon Medical Campus, and Pyeongchang Campus. It is separated into 16 colleges, nine professional graduate schools, one graduate school, and 135 research institutes.

SNU International Students

Today, the total number of international students is about 5,600 students. There are approximately 765 students enrolled in a master’s program, 289 in doctoral programs, 196 in bachelor’s programs, and the rest are enrolled in other programs.

Seoul National University Tuition Fee for International Students

Undergraduate Tuition Fees: KRW 2,442,000 ~ KRW 5,038,000 (USD $2,000 ~ $4,000) Per Semester
Graduate Tuition Fees: KRW 3,278,000 ~ KRW 5,789,000 (USD $2,660 ~ $4,690) Per Semester
The tuition fee varies according to department and major, but for undergraduate programs, departments that offer low tuition are College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Business Administration, College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, College of Education, and College of Human Ecology.

However, high tuition fees are charged by the College of Medicine, College of Music, and College of Fine Arts.

When it comes to its graduate programs, low tuition fees are set by the College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Business Administration, College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, College of Education, Graduate School of Public Administration, and College of Law.

Charging the high end in tuition fees, the graduate departments are College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Pharmacy, which are probably the top-rated academic programs in all of Korea.

Application Fee at Seoul National University

The application fee for international undergraduate students is KRW 70,000 (USD $60) and KRW 90,000 (USD $70) for graduate students. When you are given an application number, it means the application has been completed.

Once the application is complete, it is non-refundable and you can no longer cancel or change the application details such as admission type or program.

SNU Admissions Requirements for International Students

International undergraduate students who wish to apply should attain a high school diploma equivalent to Korea’s high school education and the applicant and the applicant’s parents should be non-Korean citizens.

Moreover, the applicant should be able to acquire the necessary documents for online submissions such as the application form, personal statement, study plan, recommendation letters, proof of language proficiency, transcripts, nationality certificates of applicant and parents, and other additional documents.

For aspiring graduate students who are applying for a master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree is required and for those applying for a doctoral degree, a master’s degree is required. Both the applicant and the parents should be non-Korean citizens and must hold a TOPIK Level 6 proficiency certificate for selected departments or majors.

To complete the application, the documents required to submit are the application form, personal statement, study plan, two recommendation letters, proof of language proficiency, degree certificates, transcripts, certificate of nationality, certificate of the parent-child relationship, portfolio, and other supplementary materials.
