Nation’s Restaurant News is launching a six-month virtual education series designed for growth-minded restaurateurs looking to take emerging restaurant concepts to the next level.
Presented in partnership with Savory Restaurant Fund and Black Box Intelligence, the Emerging Restaurateur Live Learning Series kicks off July 19 and includes free monthly sessions featuring exclusive data and frank conversation on sales trends, labor strategies, tech, menu development and more.
“We’re excited to partner with Savory Restaurant Fund and Black Box Intelligence to launch the Emerging Restaurateur Live Learning Series, a one-of-a-kind experience designed for the unique needs of early-stage concepts,” said NRN editor-in-chief Sam Oches. “These are the brands and leaders that will be shaping the future of foodservice, and we’re proud to create a forum where they can get in the weeds on the most pressing issues facing their businesses and find new opportunities to unlock their full potential.”
Each session will be co-hosted by Oches and Andrew K. Smith, managing partner of Savory Restaurant Fund, and will feature in-depth data on economic labor and consumer trends, as well as a panel discussion between the leaders of buzzworthy emerging brands.
The July 19 session, “The New Rules of Growth,” is sponsored by Radar and will address growth outlook for emerging brands, how to assess different funding options, what to do before expanding and whether or not franchising is the right path for a brand. Featured speakers include:
Sam Oches, editor-in-chief, Nation’s Restaurant News
Andrew K. Smith, managing partner, Savory Restaurant Fund
Victor Fernandez, vice president of insights and knowledge, Black Box Intelligence
Jason McGowan, CEO and founder, Crumbl Cookies
Jeff Chandler, CEO, Hopdoddy
Lauren Bailey, CEO and co-founder, Upward Projects
Coby Berman, COO and co-founder, Radar
Registration for the first three sessions is now open. The Aug. 16 session is titled “Why Retention is the Only Labor Metric that Matters,” and the theme of the Sept. 13 session is “Right-Sizing Your Tech Stack.”
Topics and speakers for October, November and December sessions will be announced soon.
